Toofan Toghyani

Toofan was born in Tehran Iran in 1978. He embarked on his study of Persian music from the age of nine under the supervision of master Khaledi, training in the Iranian classical style of piano. Subsequent to his migration to Australia, at the age of thirteen he continued his familiarisation with and study of Iranian classical folk and Sufi music.

Toofan was seduced by the immense strength and depth of his musical exploration and he began learning the Ney, deriving techniques as played by master Ney players Mohammad Moosavi, Mohammad Reza Kiyaninejad, and Jamshid Andalibi.

Journeying deeper towards the magnetic attraction of Persian Sufi music, he began intense training in playing the Daf.

Toofan is completely self-taught in the instrument of Daf, and trained in Ney under a great master of Persian classical music Amir Eslami Mirabadi.  Toofan has performed Persian Sufi, classical style and fusion music concerts for over 20 years with master musicians and singers in renowned venues throughout Europe, Canada, United States and remote destinations such as the Bahamas, Kazakhstan and Russia.  He has also been participated in cd recordings, movie sound tracks, festivals, TV and radio programs.

Having mastered superior techniques and his own distinct adroitness and style on the Daf and Ney, Toofan is a well-respected Iranian musician internationally.

Toofan is now actively involved in concerts and musical events and tours internationally.
